Grant Fairmount Baptist Scholarship Paul Hepler Scholarship Partnership Missions Scholarships Pruett Fund for Church Leadership Scholarship Watson Missions Grant DWMU Hollins Scholarship Pruett Fund for Church Leadership Scholarship Guidelines for the Pruett Fund for Church Leadership Scholarship The Purpose: Dover’s Pruett Fund for Church Leadership Scholarship is intended to foster the development of spiritual leadership in Dover churches by equipping individuals who have demonstrated and been affirmed in a spiritual gift(s). The scholarship is given to enhance the development of the gift in the individual and to ensure that the gift is deployed for the benefit of the applying church through the individual’s service in a leadership role. Who may apply? Any Dover church may apply on behalf of any active member or staff member of that church who is age 16 or older and who has demonstrated and been affirmed in at least one of the spiritual gifts. Application Requirements: An application must include the following items: A letter of request from the church, or those empowered to act for the church, with minutes or other similar statement verifying the church’s request The individual’s spiritual gifts assessment using the Network Spiritual Gifts Assessment and showing the presence of the gift(s); Recommendations from two church leaders that affirm the individual has the gift(s) and has demonstrated the gift(s), and that the training sought will enhance the use of the gift(s) within the church (see “Types of Training Permitted”) Description of how the training for which the scholarship is requested will be used to (1) enhance the development of the gift in that individual and (2) benefit and be used in a leadership role within the applying church Types of Training Permitted: The scholarship award must be used for training that will enhance the use of the specified gift(s) by the named individual in the applying church. The church and its senior pastor must approve the training and affirm the above use Dover’s Pruett Fund for Church Leadership Team has final approval on the award and application does not guarantee approval of an award; the Fund Team may choose to award up to $1,000 per quarter and is accountable to Dover Baptist Association and its Executive Committee Training is not limited to that sponsored by the Dover Baptist Association or other Baptist entities Training offered through secular organizations may qualify if the applicant can demonstrate that it meets all other requirements Funding: The individual and/or the applying church must fund 30‐50% of the cost of the training. The standard scholarship will cover up to 50% of the training, with a maximum award of $1000. Churches seeking a variance in these guidelines must give a justification in the application. Follow Up: Within six months after completing the training the individual and the church will give the Pruett Fund team a report describing how the training has been utilized (or where they are in the process) and whether or not it was effective. This material will be used by the Fund Team to help evaluate future requests for the similar training. Application Process: Completed applications (see above) must arrive in the Dover office as follows: by December 15 for the first quarter of the calendar year, by March 15 for the second quarter, by June 15 for the third quarter, and by September 15 for the fourth quarter.

< Back Associate Pastor Dover Church Listing Shalom Baptist Church Job Type: Part Time Visit Website (if linked) Description Position: Part-Time Associate Pastor Reports To: Senior Pastor The Associate Pastor is one who is gifted and is called to church ministry, loves people, and has a passion for evangelism and outreach both personally and at the ministry level within a multi-generational congregation setting. The Associate Pastor has a passion for the Word of God and a desire to proclaim the Word of God, living out the Great Commission by sharing the gospel boldly from the pulpit by being in the community and through one-on-one relationships. The purpose of the Associate Pastor is to provide ministry to the congregation and guests through visitation and pastoral care. This includes but is not limited to meeting the following expectations: 1) Support the Senior Pastor in the overall vision casting and leadership of the church’s teaching 2) Communication skills to effectively preach several times a year and to be prepared to be the emergency backup speaker in case of a last-minute need. Always have an “emergency sermon” ready 3) Work with the church staff to ensure weekend services are planned and executed 4) Assist the Senior Pastor as the contact for visitors by coordinating follow-up contact with new guests and members who have not attended church for a couple of weeks 5) Assist in the spiritual growth and progress of all members 6) Responsible for new member orientation classes 7) Visit and minister to the homebound, including members in the hospital, care facilities, or at home 8) Assist the Senior Pastor in conducting funerals and weddings 9) Provide confidential pastoral counseling 10) Provide guidance and oversight for small group teachers and leaders; assist small group teachers and leaders with training, curriculum/study selection 11) Teach small group or Sunday School classes as needed 12) Attend staff weekly meetings and monthly church council 13) May serve on other committees, ad hoc teams, or ex officio Qualifications: 1) Minimum of five (5) years of pastoral experience 2) Minimum of a four-year college degree preferred, but can be negotiated based on years of experience 3) Must exhibit evidence of Christian character and servant leadership as stated in 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, and 1 peter 5:1-4 in the work environment as well as in the home/family setting 4) Evidence of a strong work ethic and personal integrity 5) Must agree with Shalom’s missions, beliefs, and core values. Funds from this scholarship are also available for an individual pursuing an opportunity to explore or expand his or her ministry calling. Who makes the decision? The Dover Baptist Association Student Ministry Council Who may apply? Applicants must be a member of a Dover church for at least a year. He or she must be seeking training for traditional or nontraditional ministry or pursuing an opportunity to explore or expand his or her calling. Priority will be given to new initiatives. Priority will be given to registration and training expenses. Transportation and lodging expenses will be considered. Application Deadline: Thirty days prior to the distribution of funds Funding: The maximum annual amount a recipient or group may receive is $1,500. Application Requirements: An application must include the following: Description of how the training will be used to explore and or enhance their ministry or call to ministry A letter of recommendation from the pastor, a staff minister, or lay leader which demonstrates the applicant’s leadership in the ministries of the church. Follow Up: Recipients of this scholarship must provide a written report no later than six months following the time the funds were used. In this report, the recipients must share how the funds were used, how they are applying this training to their lives, and if/how the effectiveness of the training could be improved. This feedback will be used by the Fund Team to help evaluate future requests for the similar training. Recipients of the scholarship should also be prepared to share about their experience in various Dover media upon request. The guidelines for the Fairmount Baptist Scholarship must be reviewed regularly. Any proposed changes shall be submitted to the Dover Executive Committee for approval. Grant Fairmount Baptist Scholarship Paul Hepler Scholarship Partnership Missions Scholarships Pruett Fund for Church Leadership Scholarship Watson Missions Grant DWMU Hollins Scholarship Dover Church Collaboration Grant Guidelines for the Church Collaboration Grant The Purpose: Dover Baptist Association awards Church Collaboration Grants to advance the cause of Christ by helping churches participate in collaborative ministry efforts. By “ministries,” the association means any effort, program, or partnership that a Dover congregation feels led to pursue as churches work together to carry out the Great Commission within their community context. Eligible initiatives may include participation in Dover Baptist Association–wide efforts (such as church safety initiatives), collaborative ministries with other local churches, or partnerships with community organizations or ministry groups. To qualify, the effort must represent a collaborative way for the applying church to help people know God’s love and make disciples through collaboration with the Dover Baptist Association, local churches, or community organizations and ministries, even if similar initiatives have been attempted by others. Who Makes the Decision? The Church Collaboration Team judges all grant applications. Applying does not guarantee approval. The team will approve grants that, in the judgment of its members, fulfill the purpose of the grants. If a member of the Church Collaboration Team’s church is applying that member will recuse themselves from the approval process as a safeguard for conflict of interest. If a quorum cannot be established the approval will fall to the executive committee. How Much Does the Association Give? The grants come from the designated Church Collaboration fund. The team will award grants per church of up to $1,000 or 50% of the cost of the project, whichever is less, in any calendar year. It will award funds to eligible projects on a first come, first served basis. Limitations and Eligibility: The Church Collaboration Team will act within sixty days of receiving the request, and the applying church must begin the ministry within six months of the team’s approval or the grant will expire. Once the ministry begins, the church or mission will receive the approved grant money. The team may consider exceptions to these guidelines as requested. These guidelines take effect when approved and remain in effect until the association alters them.Preferential consideration will be made for projects involving two or more Dover churches. If a project is not approved a written statement as to the reasons will be provided to the executive committee who can override the decision if they deem it necessary. To be considered for future grant awards, the awarded church or mission must provide a report along with receipts/balances within 30 days of the event or project to the Dover office. How to Apply: Any Dover church or mission may apply. To apply, the church or mission should fill out the grant application (see directly below if hyperlink does not work) on the Dover website, which includes: a. A detailed plan or description of the project, including the cost and when the project will take place b. The requested amount of the grant up to $1,000 c. AT LEAST ONE of the following: 1) Meeting Minutes from a church-wide meeting where the nomination of the ministry or organization took place 2) Most recent financial report documenting AN EXISTING funding relationship with the nominated ministry or organization 3) A brief letter signed by the church clerk, Board of Trustees, and/or other church officer(s) certifying that the nominating party(ies) is/are authorized to act on behalf of the church in its/his/her nomination, OR 4) Excerpt from church governing document (e.g. bylaws, constitution) that articulates that the nominating party is authorized to act on behalf of the church in its/his/her nomination regarding missions, ministries, and community outreach initiatives. This Application must be completed in its entirety unless otherwise approved by the Church Collaboration Team.
