Position Title: Part-Time Pianist – Traditional Worship Service
Reports To: Director of Music Ministry | Senior Pastor
Status: Part-Time, Hourly
Position Summary
Berea Baptist Church is seeking a gifted and committed pianist to support our traditional worship service and choir ministry. This individual will provide musical accompaniment for weekly choir rehearsals, Sunday morning worship services, and special seasonal events. The pianist plays a vital role in enhancing the worship experience and supporting the spiritual life of the congregation through music that reflects reverence, tradition, and the love of Christ.
Key Responsibilities
Provide piano accompaniment for traditional choir during weekly rehearsals and Sunday morning worship
Collaborate with the Director of Music Ministry to prepare and rehearse music selections
Accompany congregational hymns, offertories, preludes, postludes, and special music as needed
Support seasonal services such as Christmas, Easter, and other church-wide events
Maintain a spirit of cooperation and flexibility in working with choir members, staff, and volunteers
Arrive punctually and prepared for all scheduled rehearsals and services
Communicate proactively regarding scheduling, availability, and musical needs
Qualifications
Proficiency in piano performance, particularly in traditional hymnody and choral accompaniment
Experience accompanying choirs or congregational singing in a church setting preferred
Ability to read music and adapt to various styles within the traditional worship context
A heart for ministry and a commitment to the mission and values of Berea Baptist Church
Reliability, professionalism, and a collaborative spirit
Schedule & Compensation
Weekly choir rehearsal (typically one evening per week)
Sunday morning worship service (11:00 AM)
Additional services and rehearsals as scheduled for special events
Compensation commensurate with experience and church budget
