Northside Baptist Church is a welcoming mission minded church whose congregation is joyful, encouraging, and compassionate. The church is in Mechanicsville, Virginia, with an active membership of approximately 125 members and is seeking a gifted Senior Pastor to preach the Gospel based on Biblical knowledge and lessons. The Pastor, along with other staff members that report to the Pastor, is responsible for leading and growing the congregation through creative spiritual studies and programs.
Duties & Requirements:
● Planning and leading weekly sermons and Bible studies with inspiring messages and teachings for the purpose of educating and leading people to Christ.
● Ministering to current and prospective members/visitors by providing time, support, and leadership, while demonstrating understanding, warmth, openness, and sensitivity. This may include spiritual and emotional support in counseling and prayer.
● Growing the church in all age groups by working with staff and church leaders to provide spiritual growth and Christian fellowship.
● Leading and managing staff members both personally and professionally. These staff members include Music Director, Senior Adult Director, Children’s Director, Office Administrator, Secretary, and Custodial staff.
● Serving as an officiate for weddings, funerals, baby dedications, baptisms, and other celebrations of the church.
● Visiting and calling those that may be during a crisis, those with spiritual needs, or new member prospects.
● Managing personal time for family, professional development, and prayer-centered self-discipline.
● Managing pastoral time for planning and studying and to be present and available on Sunday’s, Wednesday night services, weekly office hours, and other times as needed.
Qualifications
● Passion for God and a Christ-like spirit as evidenced in personal life, family relationships, and ministry.
● Master of Divinity degree or equivalent from an accredited seminary/divinity school; or four to ten years pastoral related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
● Proven ability to communicate effectively and build positive relationships with individuals across a range of age groups and personality types. Experience managing conflict in a direct, respectful, and constructive manner.
● Interpersonal and communicative skills along with proficiency in computer and technology skills.
Salary & Benefits
● Salary dependent on qualifications and experience.
