Children’s Ministry Summer Internship Job Description


Roles of a Summer Intern


• Assist in the planning and executing of the children’s ministry of Mount Vernon Baptist Church while gaining valuable experience across several ministry areas.

• Promote and work under the vision and direction of the Minister for Children & Families.


Responsibilities of a Summer Intern


• Full time position (40 hours a week)

• Supporting the Children’s Ministry staff and volunteers to carry out the mission of Mount Vernon Kids:

T- Teach kids to know and love Jesus.

R- Reach out to share God’s love.

E- Equip families to disciple their kid(s).

E- Encourage kids in a life of prayer, worship, and fellowship.


• Tasks to include but not limited to –

o Planning, setting up and helping with Vacation Bible School

o Leading a small group of children during Worship Arts Camp

o Providing support to our Sunday School ministry, to include leading a class

o Planning and leading weekly Wednesday evening children’s programming

o Meet weekly with Minister for Children & Families for discipleship and spiritual growth

o Begin to develop a working knowledge of children’s ministry

o Other tasks as assigned


Length of Employment

• 10 weeks (Dates may be negotiable)

o Late May/Early June- Early August.


Summer Intern Compensation

• $5,000 for the 10 weeks of employment
