Position Summary

The Associate Pastor of Youth is a full-time staff member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church. The position will shepherd youth in grades 6-12. This person will be working under the supervision of the senior pastor. This position will grow with us as we seek to further God’s Kingdom.


Essential Job Responsibilities

· Youth pastor will be responsible for leading and growing youth ministry by organizing and overseeing each aspect of the youth program including but not limited too: missions trips, summer and retreat camps, all bible study for youth including overseeing Sunday School for youth, organizing volunteers, partnering with the youth committee, working with them to formulate a budget for youth programs, and visitation of youth and their families.

· Youth Pastor will organize and teach youth Wednesday night Bible study.

· Youth Pastor will integrate the youth into the life and mission of the church through collaboration with other church staff and ministries.

· Youth Pastor will foster a sense of community and belonging with youth in a structured setting.

· Youth Pastor will focus on spiritual, emotional, and social well-being of middle and high school students, always guiding them in their faith journey, building relationships and encouraging their spiritual growth.

· The time spent on youth ministry is estimated to be 80%. The other 20% includes but is not limited to: preaching, teaching, visitation, and other ministry opportunities that contribute to the overall church goals and vision for Mt. Olivet Baptist Church. Youth ministry will always remain the primary responsibility but as the Lord leads, this person will be given the opportunity to minister in other areas of our church and this percentage is subject to change.

· The Youth Pastor shall attend worship services on Sunday as well as other major church events. Also, this person will attend regular staff meetings, attend deacon meetings, etc and all other responsibilities as given by the senior pastor.


Core Competencies (character, skills, and abilities)

· Demonstrates leadership skills for our youth of all ages by teaching and modeling what biblical leadership looks like in daily life. This includes encouraging youth to be leaders within their own youth group.

· Has a passion and vision for outreach within our youth community and surrounding area. This person demonstrates servant leadership.

· Demonstrates and communicates a heart for the Lord, clearly able to express his own testimony.

· Integrity: Being honest, trustworthy, and transparent is vital. Leaders in ministry are expected to be above reproach (1 Tim 3:2). Personal life must reflect a high ethical Christian standard. Social media presence must reflect this.

· Is a self-starter, able to serve our youth with enthusiasm and a clear vision of his own calling from the Lord. Demonstrates teachability, humility, and a willingness to grow and learn in this position.

· Expresses a heart for missions as commanded in Matthew 28:18-20.

· The Youth Pastor has clear Biblical knowledge and can effectively teach and reach all age groups with the expectation that the candidate has or is completing seminary education.

· Has a passion for getting involved with our church community and making Mt. Olivet a home for their family.
